“Beaucoup De” inauguration on August 29, 2016
On August 29, 2016, a multifold inauguration ceremony was held. Holy Cross School , Salem once again asserted as the top school in infrastructure and multi dimensional education. The following facilities were inaugurated on that day. Renovated Bathija Hall with an acoustic wall and digital surround system and studio lights. A new Dance Room with life size mirror and digital sound system. A help desk, Information Cache, for instant information about Holy Cross School and Congregation. HolyCross Boutique, an all-in-one shop for stationary, T-Shirts, Key Chains, Tea Cups and other memorabilia. NIIT nguru MATH LAB with multimedia math learning. Bro Louis Leduc Multipurpose Hall with glass wall systems embedded with superior acoustics. Computer aided Language Lab for primary children. Children’s park with enthralling new games.
KALOTHSAV, Inter School Competitions between Aug 29 and Aug 31, 2016
Education and competition are two universal ingredients of all human cultures. All life forms somehow possess knowledge and skills for survival and propagation. Such knowledge and skills are transmitted from generation to generation in various ways. A child is born without culture, and education can be viewed as the process of transmitting culture. Cultural knowledge and skills concern all aspects of human life. Cultural Competitions are part of holistic education. “KALOTHSAV 2016”, the Inter Schools Cultural Competitions of Holy Cross Matriculation Higher Secondary School was held between August 29 and August 31, 2016 at various locations inside school premises. “KALOTHSAV KIDS” is one of the unique events in Salem designed for LKG and UKG children. There was plethora of events conducted under each category with an objective of providing a common platform to all the students of Salem city. The events had participants from twenty four schools from the neighbourhood of Salem City. There are eighty three events for various categories as Kids, Sub Junior, Junior, Senior and Super Seniors. The events were held over a period of three days in different venues ranging from the Bro. Donald Open Stage, St Andre Block, Language Lab 1 & 2, Computer Lab 1 & 2, Bathija Hall, OBA Block, PTA Block , St. Mary’s Block ,Fr. Moreau Block and Gallery. The campus reverberated with the keen spirit of competition among the students for all events which reiterated the emphasis on the all-round development. The competitions highlighted the effort taken by each school which was evident in the quality of presentations and participation of students ranging from grade LKG to 12th Standard. This clearly exhibited the true spirit of the Fest to encourage amongst students a competitive spirit and healthy participation and an opportunity to explore and unleash their latent talents. The aim of this Inter-School event to provide a forum for the young talent from all schools to express their creativity and originality and demonstrate their inherent talents and diverse faculties was truly fulfilled. The event concluded on August 31 with the much awaited prize distribution ceremony.
Annual Sports Meet on 9 August 2016
“Hard Work beats Talent when Talent does not Work Hard” Sports, whether team-based or individual, are a great activity for children that provide a variety of benefits. Participation in sports can help build self-esteem and confidence, can motivate children to excel academically and can help build social skills. Participation also can teach children the benefits of goal-setting and practice. Sports participation promotes health and wellness not only through childhood but throughout a child’s lifetime. Our School Annual Sports events were conducted on August 9, 2016. Mr. Vijayababu C, Sub Divisional Magistrate and Revenue Divisional Officer, Salem, was the Chief Guest and Ms. Saroja T, Inspector of Matriculation School, Salem was the Guest of Honour. The “flag-ship” marchpast began with marchers showcasing perfect co-ordination to the beats of the marchpast band. Tiny Tots of Kindergarten dance depicting the need to protect the environment. The Patriotic Dance made the audience spellbound. The 50 m, 75 m, 100 m sprint race along with 400 m relay was conducted in high spirit. The Gymnasts performed thrilling exercises in multi dimensions
Vice Principal Mr. Edward Joseph’s Birthday
On July 20, 2016, Mr. Edward Joseph, Vice Principal , Holy Cross Matriculation Higher Secondary School, celebrated his birthday. The Celebration stated with Cake Cutting followed by cultural programs. Mr. Rajkumar felicitated Mr. Eddy by highlighting his ever fresh attitude and ever green service. He also narrated various dimensions of Mr. Eddy in the Field of Education and in Social Service.
